Antoine Revell
Who are you, and what do you do?
I am Antoine Revell, a photographer born and raised in Los Angeles. My work is usually tagged by my internet alias @revellimages. I graduated from Cal State-LA with a film degree. I have shot celebrities such as Kevin Hart, Olympic champions such as Usain Bolt, music artists like Kanye West to working with major companies such as LensCrafters.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
My influences come from life, dreaming, and just wanting to capture what we see and invision. Some books that help me creatively are Huckleberry Finn as well as comic books like X-Men and Spiderman. I watch a lot of Sci-fi movies to unlock child-like creativity and imagination but for certain projects you have to develop a feel so I watch dramas. I listen to Hip Hop and R&B soulful music, but I appreciate rock and electronic music.
What hardware / software do you use?
I shoot with Canon 5ds/7ds. For workload and processing I use Lightroom and some Photoshop. I use a Waacom Pad to edit and a compact Western Digital Hard for portable storage. I have a Mac and a PC (no preference).
What would be your dream creative setup?
Ideal setup depends on what I am shooting. I always have a Rockstar or cup of coffee. When I am shooting music and I am at concerts I prefer to arrive early, meet with other photographers, get my placement and shoot anyone on stage to see what the lighting is giving before the main performances.
If I am shooting portrait work and developing concepts I’m usually in an area with no TV and not many people. I listen to music I feel would give me the best creative thoughts at that time and then I search the internet, magazines, and books for inspiration.
