Who are you, and what do you do?

My name is Lior Frenkel, and I’m the head of fun (CEO) at the nuSchool. At the nuSchool we’re helping freelance creatives with the business side of their careers. Getting more clients and getting paid what you’re worth – all those things no one is teaching you at school but you need in order to pay the rent.

I’m a freelancer myself – managing web design teams, creating awesome websites. I also speak (TEDx, Web summit) and write (Wired, WebDesignerDepot) about generation Y and the new world careers. This is my second start-up and I really enjoy helping and consulting young start-ups on how to establish and grow.

What forms of media have influenced you the most?

I have two formal degrees: B.Sc in electrical eng. and M.A. in philosophy; but I got most of my knowledge from books. I listen to audiobooks at least an hour a day – learning all I can about business, marketing and creativity. Music is a must when I work; I can’t work without it. Soundcloud and bandcamp are my main resources for new music.

What hardware / software do you use?

I carry a Macbook Air and Android everywhere I go.
As for software, I’m mainly use webapps such as Trello, Google Docs and of course Photoshop and coding tools.

What would be your dream creative setup?

Every morning I choose to either commute all the way to my living room where I have a huge table with an additional screen, huge speakers, and lots of sun and air. Or I will go to my favorite cafe around the corner, where they know how I like my double macchiato and I get to choose the playlists.
