Sebastian Klein
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Sebastian and I’m one of the co-founders of Blinkist – a mobile learning app that summarizes the key messages of business books. We’re based in Berlin, currently 20 employees and are striving to make life-long learning easy and effective. At Blinkist, I’m responsible for strategy, organization, as well as customer and employee happiness. I’m a trained psychologist and have worked as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group before co-founding Blinkist in 2012.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
I’ve always been an avid reader and writer, so books are definitely the media that influenced me the most. I love to pick up new concepts or just a piece of inspiration from a good non-fiction book, but I also love to read great novels, especially the classics. There’s a lot to learn from them for learning apps, especially about the power of good story-telling.
What hardware / software do you use?
I’m a big fan of Asana, GoogleDocs, and MailChimp. And of course Gmail.
What would be your dream creative setup?
My ideal setting is one that changes all the time. I’m the most productive when I can change my location throughout the day: like working an hour at my kitchen desk in the morning, before breakfast, then walking the 30 minutes into our office, staying there for 2 hours, then moving to a cafe or co-working space. Somehow my mind moves the most when my body does as well.
