Tony Gatehouse
Who are you, and what do you do?
My name is Tony Gatehouse and I’m the founder of Explore Nation, an online community aimed at inspiring outdoor experiences worldwide. I have a background in Graphic Design & Web Design which has enabled me to produce media for the company both on and offline. This allows me to take care of anything from content creation and website management, to the design and production of our apparel line.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
I’m a bit of a layout nerd, so Books and Magazines are a definite stand out. Photography and film are also huge influences, however, ultimately I find inspiration in a variety of forms – ranging from architecture and interiors to nature & travel.
What hardware / software do you use?
Generally speaking I’m a slave to Apple and Adobe. Although when it comes to conceptualizing and wire framing you can’t go wrong with a sketchbook and pen. I’m a firm believer in removing yourself from the digital realm as often as possible and experimenting with alternative mediums…this is where the real creativity begins.
What would be your dream creative setup?
I’m most productive when I’m outside and enjoying nature. Although not always viable, I do my best to work from alternative environments as much as possible – an office atmosphere gets old pretty quick. I also think it’s important that I’m surrounded by like-minded creatives as often as possible. Collaboration is key.
