Mattias Lepp
Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m Mattias Lepp, the founder and CEO of Click & Grow, which is the leading technology company in innovative indoor gardening solutions. Our products take complete care of plants with zero external assistance needed. Some people jokingly say that we make iPots.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
From early childhood to teenage years, the main inspiration I got from books, as my parents provided me with books meant for adult readers. For example, I read the Siddartha by Herman Hesse when I was 9. I also read a lot about science and the history of art – if I have to name one of my favorites, it would be Naked came I by David Weiss about the artist Auguste Rodin.
After my teenage years, the main medium was definitely music – mostly classical music as I was studying to be a choirmaster. But I have always loved popular music as well: The Small Faces, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan.
What hardware / software do you use?
For my day-to-day tasks, I mainly use my Macbook Pro, iPad, and iPhone 6. As my digital workplace I use Evernote. Among the cooler things we use at Click & Grow are the Makerbot 2x and some different self-developed robots. I mostly use Solid Edge for 3D solid modeling.
What would be your dream creative setup?
This might sound cliché, but I usually get most of my creative ideas in solitude – preferably in the woods and away from people and civilization. So I guess a taiga or a snowy forest would be ideal? To keep the creativeness flowing, a good quality wine is also very welcomed in this setting!
