William Channer
Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m Will and I co-founded Panda – a dashboard for designers and developers. The problem many of them face is staying “in the know”. This could be the client wanting to make sure their designer is using the latest technology or about the designer wanting to be “the rockstar designer” staying up on the newest stuff. Basically Panda streamlines this problem by aiding designers/developers in knowing what’s trending/popular at any time. I have a podcast, Dorm Room Tycoon, which interviews a lot of well-known guys in the design/development world. I started this while I was at University as an easy way to learn about these people I would aspire to be. I bring my various projects together under one roof on Panda Network so that I can reach all my audience at once.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
Music for sure. When I’m designing I like techno. When I wake up I prefer to listen to something softer like classical or jazz. It all depends on my mood.
What hardware / software do you use?
For designing I’m still using Illustrator and Sketch. For editing my podcast I’m using Logic Pro. We use Slack for communicating and Sunrise is our calendar software. Wunderlist as well. And of course I’m a Mac user.
What would be your dream creative setup?
I recently had an office but I gave that up. So now I am roaming around coffee shops and places where there are a lot of other people – they can be working or talking. Sometimes my work can get monotonous so it is good to have that distraction.
