Who are you, and what do you do?
I am Michael, I specialize in business operations and helping early stage startups get off the ground. I usually communicate between Europe and Silicon Valley for business. At the moment I serve as the interim CEO of EventApe.io – an online event management platform. I am also the co-founder of HustleX, a web journal that offers insights and knowledge from Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, investors and other experts; co-founder of the Cypriot Enterprise Link a non-profit that supports the entrepreneurial development of my home country; and Fellow of the The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce in the United Kingdom.
What forms of media have influenced you the most?
Any books that offer better understanding and insights on disruptive innovation and how things can be done differently across various industries – my current favorite is Zero to one by Peter Thiel.
Any kind of music that can keep me concentrated and motivated; the genres vary: when I edit content I listen to classical music, mostly Tchaikovsky and Handel; when I look at more technical elements such as code or architectures, I usually listen to metal, mostly Metallica, or classic rock.
Finally I like movies that inspire me and make me feel there’s way more to achieve in life. My current favorite is: The Imitation Game.
What hardware / software do you use?
Hardware: Macbook pro, iPad, and Beats Studio headphones.
Software: Google docs, and a range of video and photo editing software for HustleX. For EventApe the team has developed a custom framework, which we use to further develop the current platform.
What would be your dream creative setup?
Either outdoors on a rooftop, with good weather, drinks and a nice breeze or indoors in between screens. In both cases I love working in an open space. I like being surrounded by people, but at the same time I need the setting to be noiseless so I always have my headphones on.
